Welcome to the Federation of Yorkshire Sport

WELCOME
Federation of Yorkshire SportThe Federation of Yorkshire Sport was formed in 1965. It is an autonomous body made up of Regional and County Governing Bodies of Sport together with the District and Local advisory Sports Councils. The Federation is the independent voice of voluntary sport in the region. The area covered by the Federation coincides exactly with the Yorkshire region of Sport England (the English Sports Council) and comprises the counties of North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire & West Yorkshire, and the old county of Humberside.

The Federation is supported by West Yorkshire Grants, a Joint Committee of Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield Councils and has been supported by the Yorkshire Sports Board through grant aid provided by Sport England. The Federation is administered by the Carnegie Faculty at Leeds Metropolitan University

aims of the federation

Charter for Fairplay

Sports Associations, their clubs, officials, competitors, players and spectators, are all representatives of their sport, and must always set a good example of fairplay. The Federation of Yorkshire Sport urges everybody connected with sport in the Yorkshire region to subscribe and adhere to this charter. In particular, it is essential that all those connected with sport for young people insist on the highest standards at all times.

Fair Play Awards

The Federation presents Fair Play as part of its campaign to encourage everybody to follow its 'Fair Play Charter'.

The Federation of Yorkshire Sport will:

  • promote and encourage fairplay through its member organisations.
  • ensure that its rules are fair, clearly understood, and properly enforced.
  • make every effort to ensure that its rules are applied consistently and with absolute impartiality.
  • impress upon all players and officials the need to maintain the highest standards of fairplay at all times.
  • seek to ensure that its member organisations subscribe to this charter.

This is an extract from the Charter for FairPlay in Yorkshire, published by the Federation and available by post on application.
